Vincent Liu grew up in a family where both parents were accomplished artists in Taiwan, and a granduncle (Liu Haisu) who was a renowned Chinese artist pioneered and led Chinese modern art in the 20th century. With deep roots in an art family, Vincent showed a great deal of interest in art in his early age. He, however, decided to choose a career in engineering and technology for a more predictable life style when he immigrated to US. With his creativity, he successfully founded several startup companies in the Silicon Valley.
Vincent began studying fine art after retiring from high tech industry in 2006. The dark charcoal sticks and white papers instantly inspired him and reignited his youthful passion for arts since then. Vincent decided to pursue his childhood dream. He was mostly self taught in drawing, painting and sculpting. He also studied fine art at various local colleges and workshops organized by established contemporary artists.
Oil has been and will continue to be his medium of choice for its versatility, its richness in colors and texture. Over the past two years, he began to see a path emerging for where he will be going. Although in the art world, change is the only constant rule. His conviction to art has never been this intense.
